Mudras are hand positions depicted in Buddhist art and used in practice to evoke a particular state of mind. The Vitarka mudra is used in yoga, Buddhism and Hinduism. From Sanskit, vitarka means reasoning or deliberation, so this mudra is known as a gesture of teaching or discussion.
